Develop the skills required to assess leadership capabilities and develop the leadership capacity of yourself and those you lead, empowering you to thrive in a volatile, uncertain, chaotic, and complex world by leveraging MIT's Four-Capabilities Model, including visioning, sense-making, relating, and inventing.

Module 2:

Three Perspectives on Organizations

Improve your ability to assess change impacts by deepening your understanding of how an organization's strategic design, political environment, and cultural norms impact change management strategies and approaches to addressing critical organizational challenges.

Module 3:

Power and Influence in Organizations

Develop powerful insights about related how to uncover where power exists within organizations, to how to identify and leverage organizational networks and influencers to accelerate change and improve organizational performance.

Module 4:

Organization Networks

Engage in a deeper dive into organizational networks and learn about how to leverage key concepts like the Law of Propinquity, analyzing EI Index, as well as assessing and refining network density to advance your agenda.

The Change Simulation

Apply what you have learned in a real-world change simulation developed by Harvard that will help you appreciate the complexity of managing change and provide you an opportunity to bolster the knowledge and skills you developed throughout the course, so you are well equipped to navigate the complex dynamics of a large-scale change effort.

John Van Maanen

Erwin H. Schell Professor of Management

John Van Maanen is an ethnographer of organizations ranging from police organizations to educational institutions, as well as a variety of business firms. He is the author of numerous books and articles, most recently, Tales of the Field and is a co-author of the book Career Anchors.
